My busy day!

Today was a hectic busy day! I'm so glad it's over! We had to be up early this morning for my daughter's soccer game and then immediately after that grab some lunch and go to my parents house to change and clean up to go downtown to a warehouse for a Santa's Helpers Silent Auction. It was fun but taking along three small children wasn't! They were full of energy and hadn't had good naps so they were TONS of fun! lol The Santa's Helpers was a success though, which is great. My sister has been asked to be on the board of directors, which is a huge honor. We're all so proud of her and all of her efforts in helping others and volunteering her time for non-profit events. For those of you that do not know what Santa's Helper is let me explain a little. Santa's Helpers is a non-profit (donation only) team that collects gift donations and money to buy gifts for children who's parents cannot afford to buy them Christmas presents. They go out and buy and wrap all the gifts they received and bought with the donation money and on Christmas day go with a "Santa" and hand out gifts to children in inner cities and hospitals. I haven't done it yet, this year will be my first, but my sister has done it for about 7 years and is always so amazed at how much the parents appreciate it and how many of them tear up from the thoughtfulness of others. The children, obviously, love it too. Not only do they get to receive gifts but Santa comes to THEIR house in person while they're awake! How cool is that? It is a wonderful way to give back and make others smile in their time of need on such a wonderful holiday! I can't wait to be a part of it. If you would like to make a donation please click here! Or to find out about Santa's Helpers in your area google Santa's Helpers in your city and find out how you can help your areas less fortunate children.

So anyway, we were there for quite a while and then we got ready to go home. Ohhh...what a relief!!! The kids were worn out and so was I! But wait....they hadn't had dinner yet, baths or done homework! CRAP! Ok so quick showers and baths, order pizza and skip homework tonight...just have some extra quiet time tonight and extra homework tomorrow! So now the house is quiet and I am finally having the only quiet time I've had all day. It's wonderful!!! The day was busy and hectic but it kept our minds off the one thing that was sure to have made today a sad day instead....my Mammy. We all did ok and no one cried. I feel kinda bad because I feel like we ignored what today really was. But ya know, I am glad that my mom was able to be with her family and not by herself thinking about sad things and crying. I'm sure at some point today/tonight she will think of her mom and cry a little but at least it wasn't all day. It was a hectic day but we had fun and we were all together! Family is a wonderful thing!
