My son's 4th birthday!

Today is my son's 4th birthday! YIPPY!!! I can't believe that four years have already gone, err flown by! It seems like just yesterday we were in the hospital holding him for the first time. He was such a gorgeous baby!

The entire pregnancy with him was scary. We almost lost him about 5 times between the pregnancy and birth. We did however loose the two others early on. We are so blessed to have him here; nobody thought he would be born alive. And everyone kept telling me not to finish his room or buy much until he was born and was ok, if that ever even happened. It scared me so bad to think that he might not make it. But I wasn't going to sit around and give up on him so I finished his room and had everything ready for his arrival.

He was born on Jan. 10 after 22 hours of labor at a tiny 6 lbs. 4 oz. We went into the hospital around 7pm and he was born via emergency c-section, because of a dropped heart rate, at 4pm the next day. I woke up around 6pm and saw him and got to hold him for the first time. I will never forget that day! My husband was sitting next to me when I woke up and I could tell by the look on his face that the baby was ok. He had to have oxygen but by the time I woke up he was off it. They brought him into the room and it took all of me not to loose it. My mom on the other hand lost it when she got to hold him; she never thought she would be able to.

He has had his share of health problems but so far has come through fine and only with a couple things that he will have to learn to live and deal with. He is such a great kid! I couldn't ask for more in a son. He is loving, cuddly, smart, fun and just a joy to be around. Out of all the things I have done in my life I surely did something right to be given this beautiful blessing.

So today he is 4! We didn't do much for it today. I made him some muffins with Diego printed cupcake things and put a candle in it and we sang Happy Birthday. Then tonight we went to my parents house and had a mini party for him. Just a nice dinner and cupcakes. We all made cupcakes today and spent lots of time on them and then my oldest accidentally dropped them on the floor; all of them but two!!! So we had to buy some pre-made ones. Oh well...he loved them anyway! Tomorrow will be his real party. I didn't do a big party this year because after I called around everywhere I decided that we couldn't afford it and he'll get a big one next year.

So here's to my miracle baby! We didn't think we'd get to meet you but God decided to let us. You are the light of our lives and we love you more than love! Happy Birthday sweetheart!
*Tomorrow I will post a slide show of his first 4 years! So make sure to check back in tomorrow!*
