Here's a question: How much sleep do you need to be able to function? I'm not talking about how much sleep you want or wish to have but how much you actually require to be able to go about your day.
As parents, especially mothers, we don't get much sleep. What with waking babies, nightly feedings and diaper changes, bad dreams, sleepless nights, constant thoughts about the days events, worries and so forth, it's nearly impossible to get the sleep and rest that we actually require to be able to be good, alert parents the following day.
I can function on anything over 6 hours of sleep. Although, to make me happy and completely 100% alert I need 8. What I would really want would be a good 12-20 hours! lol But we all know that that will never happen again. I think even when my kids are bigger I'll still have trouble sleeping. Because then I'll be worrying about who they're out with, how they're driving, are they being careful or reckless, how they're doing in school, what test they have the following day, what major 'crisis' they're going through (which with girls is usually something like what clothes they have to have to be cool and who just broke their heart) and what kind of adults they are going to be. And then when they get older and get married I'm going to worry about things like, what their spouse is treating them like, how they're doing financially and so on. But I'm also a worry wart and that will never change. So I will just have to realize that sleep will come one day...I'll sleep when I'm dead. lol
So how about you? How many hours of sleep do you need?

If I sleep more than 7 or 8 I feel tired by 3pm. I function best on 6-7 hours actually.
I have two children that do not sleep well. I haven't sleep well in 2 years. I asked a friend who has two adult children when she started sleeping better and she busted out laughing and said YOU NEVER do. She said once you have children that's it! Oh well, worth it right?
I'm a sleeper. I work best on 10 hours. Coffee has really made me into a better mommy.

Well, now I won't be able to sleep tonight just thinking about all the stuff I need to be worried about. Thanks. :-)
I would prefer at least 6 but I'm usually good with 5 hours as long as it's not broken.
