My dear sweet husband!

This is going to be one of my "ahhh...how sweet" posts! Yesterday I took my daughter to her last soccer game (they lost by the way) and had my mom watching my other two kids because my hubs was at work. So when I left I called my mom to see how the kids were doing and my husband answered the phone. Surprise! He got home early! I was surprised to know that even though my hubs was home my mom was still there but she said they had been talking and lost track of time. Hmmm....ok!

So I get home and mom talks to my oldest and then leaves. While we were putting the groceries away my hubs tells me that he made my mom cry. "WTF? WHY? What did you do?" I asked him. He begins to tell me how he spilled his heart out to my mom about how much he loves me and how we are planning to renew our vows. He then goes to on say about how he is so sorry that he never asked my mom and dad for my hand in marriage.

Let me quickly explain to you that when my hubs and I met I was only 18 and he was 27 and he didn't speak much English. He had immigrated here from Mexico and was still learning even though he had had numerous English classes while still in Mexico. After dating for about a year and learning that his mom didn't have much time left because her cancer was getting worse we decided that we wanted her to see us get married. So our plan was to go to Mexico, get married and then come back to the states and not tell anyone. We thought that we would later get married here. But about a week or so before we left we learned that a Mexican marriage was legal in the US and that we wouldn't be able to get married here without people knowing that we were already married. So after many discussions we decided to tell my parents. It was more important to us for his mom to see us get married because she wouldn't be around a whole lot longer. It broke my parents' hearts but we did it anyway. As time has gone by my parents know that they got the better end of the deal because they get to see us and the kids whenever they want. My mother-in-law never even got to meet our kids because she died about a year and a half later when our oldest was only 7 months. Nobody EVER thought that we would make it longer than a year or two. Well to all of them..."HA! WE DID! It will be 9 years on New Years Eve...and we're still going!"

We have had our share of ups and downs but it seems like every down we have only brings us closer together in the end. I recently told him how I hate that he never shows or speaks of emotions and he has been working on it. We've always talked about renewing our vows on our ten year anniversary and are beginning to plan it for Spring of 2010. So anyway, my hubs apologized for not doing it the right way in the beginning and explaining how his English was not good and how he was scared of my dad. He told my mom that he plans on asking my dad and her for my hand before we renew our vows. How sweet is that? He spilled his heart about how much he loves me, our kids and them. My mom then told him that she and my dad both love him like a son and are happy that we are married. The past is in the past and a new beginning is on it's way. I can't wait! Ohh...my dear sweet husband...I love him so much!

Since we are beginning our plans I will from time to time be asking for ideas, thoughts and opinions on the rings, dress and plans. I didn't get to plan our first wedding because his family did all of that so I'm so excited to start planning this one. We have to save a lot of money to do this and that's why we are starting the preparations now. We also have started dieting and have already lost weight!!! He is the typical guy and has already lost a bunch! And I've gone down about 2 pant sizes! (Since that pic above was taken!!!) So please check back and give some of your thoughts, ideas and opinions!
