Life is great!

Ahhhh...another fun week! (*MAJOR exaggeration alert**) So this week my son got his patches off (see pic). The doctors are still trying to find out what is making his skin so dry and itchy; he has scars on his back, arms and legs from itching so much. He's already gone through the needle prick test and that came back crazy!!! He is allergic to so much! But after taking him off of everything he is allergic to nothing helped. So we did the patch test. He had to keep these patches on for 2 days. FUN!!! He hated them! He was uncomfortable and couldn't stand it! Plus the fact that we couldn't give him a normal bath because he wasn't allowed to get them wet. But he got them off finally and nothing showed up. Which was good but also bad because we still don't know what is the cause of his extremely dry skin. So that was the first thing this week.

THEN we have been noticing for about a month or so that his eye is getting bad again. (He's had 3 surgeries on his eyes for clogged tear ducts.) So we took him into the doctor to get it checked and the doctor thinks it's an infection so he started antibiotic eye drops. Again, my son can't stand that so we literally have to lay on his arms and legs, hold his head down, pry open his eye and insert the drops. FUN!!! If his eye doesn't get better or if the "infection" comes back he will probably have to have another surgery to correct it again.

THEN we have my oldest who is still in her cast. Giving her a shower or bath is proving very difficult seeing as how she can't get it wet. She got part of it removed this week so now she just has the cast on her wrist. So at least that was something good.

THEN last night my babies fever was still around. It was up to 103 and she just wasn't acting like herself. So after finally getting 'some' of the medicine down her I layed her down for a nap. And when she woke up she still had a fever of 103 and when I went to change her diaper I noticed what looked like blood in her urine. GREAT! Poor baby! So I called the doctor and he said that I should take her to the ER because she would probably have to have a catheter done to test for an infection. But since I have two other kids at home I knew that would be difficult. So I called my mom and she came over after she got off work and watched the two older ones so that I could take her in the hospital. We got there around 6:30pm and sat there until 11pm. That was fun let me tell ya! She wouldn't/couldn't go to sleep because her fever was still high, she was uncomfortable and she can't sleep anywhere except for her own bed. I had to lay her down and let her scream herself to sleep because holding her was doing nothing for either one of us. After all the tests were done and meds given the doctor came in and told us that it was more than likely a virus and that the fever is what is causing urtrate crystals in her urine. He said that because her fever has been so high for a couple of days that her kidneys aren't working like they usually do and that it causes these crystals and the urine to look dark or even have a red color. But it was nothing to get to worried about but to just keep her drinking and try to keep her fever down.

So we got home around 11:30pm and I got her in bed. My oldest just lost a tooth yesterday and wrote this long letter to the tooth fairy so I had to do my best to fake handwriting so that the tooth fairy could leave her a letter answering all of her questions. (I'll post her letter later just for fun! It was very cute!) So after doing that I climbed into bed around 12:30 and was finally drifting off when I hear crying. Since all my kids sound alike I wasn't sure who it was so I went into the hallway to listen for which room the crying was coming from. It was my son. So I went into his room and he told me he had had a nightmare and he wanted me to sleep with him. I layed with him for a while and then told him that he was ok and I was just in the next room but he needed to *try* to get some sleep. I crawl back in bed and five minutes later I hear him crying again. I layed with him for a while longer and then told him to think of all the fun toys he wanted to ask Santa for and that would help him not have any more bad dreams. So again, I climb into bed and start to drift off when I hear, "MAMA!!!". I try to ignore it thinking I was just dreaming. Then I hear it again, "MAMA!!!". Now it was my oldest! "Honey, what is wrong?", "I had a bad dream mama!" So I took care of that and then around 1:30am I get in bed and sleep until the kids get up around 7.

What a great week this has been. I have to keep reminding myself that things can always be worse and that I am blessed with any problem at all because having a "problem" is proof that I am living a life full of children and blessings. Everyone has problems and it's how you deal with them that makes you who you are and makes your life what it is. I will keep reminding myself of this everyday. Because one day when my kids are older and moved out with lives of their own I will be sitting here alone and looking for something to do. Life, although hard at times, it great!

When it rains, it pours, right? At least things seem like they can only get better from here. I hope everyone starts feeling better and you can finally get some sleep!
